Malaysian Cookery School

Masak - masak (literally means cook cook),is a little game I played with my friends of pretend cooking when I was a little girl. Little did I know that I would do it for real when I grew up. Apart from cooking for others, I love to teach. I am very excited to teaching in my new kitchen. We spent 9 months designing the kitchen and working with selective suppliers and producers to create Ping’s Masak Club. The aim of Masak Club is to teach you a new cuisine in a relaxed informal way and have lots of fun whilst doing it.

COVID UPDATE

Pings Masak Club will be reopening its doors on 5th October and I can’t wait to welcome you back. There will be some temporary restrictions and changes following Government guidelines to ensure safety which hopefully won’t affect your enjoyment of the class. These will be updated regularly in line with Government advice.

  • Class size will be reduced from 6 to 4 and good old me so 5 in total. I will structure the class to ensure social distancing.
  • There will be handsoaps, hand sanitizers and disposable napkins available. There are two hand washing facilities available. There are also gloves for students to use. I will also remind students to wash their hands regularly.
  • As the current guidelines dictate, please bring your own face masks/coverings and you will need to wear this during class. I will have some disposable ones available if you forget.
  • I have great outdoor space so we will have regular breaks outdoors if weather permits.
  • Toilet facility will be deep cleaned before each class and will only be used by the group during class.
  • All the equipment used will be hot washed and all surfaces will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.
  • Refreshments will be served in disposable cups.
  • All the food that is cooked during class will be packed up for students to take home and enjoy.
  • Needless to say, if you feel ill and have been in anywhere or in contact with someone who might be ill, please don’t come, contact us and we can rearrange your space.  

Malaysian Signatures

This class focuses on some Malaysian classics and also my signature dishes. Want to learn how to make proper Chicken Satay and Peanut Sauce or master Beef Rendang by blending spices together and watch it transform to the most decadent warming dish along with a whole lot more? Come to this class and I will arm you with a full tummy and a new repertoire under your belt to impress your friends and family.

Malaysian Streetfood

This class features some of Malaysia's well known street foods. Be transported to the streets of Malaysia by some of the dishes I am going to teach you to recreate. Fancy trying to make Malaysia’s national dish Nasi Lemak or learn how to flip some Roti Canai?

Bookings
Please email masakclub@pingcoombes.com to book. Please state your chosen date, number of places required and any dietary requirements. We will email back to confirm if your place is available.

Gift Vouchers
If you would like to purchase a gift voucher, please email masakclub@pingcoombes.com. The voucher will be issued with the name of the receiver and must be redeemed within 18 months of the purchased date. We are unable to exchange any vouchers for cash or cheque.

Private and Corporate Bookings
You may book out the published classes (max 6 people) for your party or we can arrange a special date depending on availability. The classes are bespoke and designed to fit the requirements of the client. Classes can also be arranged to be at clients venue of choice. Please note that costs might be different to the published prices above depending on requirements.

Terms and Conditions
Classes have to be prepaid in full before the booking is confirmed and only paying students are allowed to attend. We are unable to give you a refund on cancellations once you are booked onto a class but if you are unable to attend please inform us and, if we can find a replacement, we might be able to move you to another class. Please note this is not a guarantee and we are under no obligation to provide you a space for another class. If there is a class cancellation, an option of full refund or credit towards the next available class will be offered.

Arrival - Class starts promptly at 10am and ends at 2pm. Please arrive no more than 15 minutes before classes commence. If you arrive earlier than 9.30am, unfortunately we won’t be able to accommodate you. There are some nice cafes around the area where you can grab a coffee.

Class - Class is hands on and if you are not comfortable in doing some of the tasks, please inform Ping during class. Please note that you won’t be able to take some of the dishes home with you due to health and safety regulations.
