FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I place an order?

Until we have the online ordering facility up and running please email all orders through to athome@pingcoombes.com with your name and address along with the qty of dishes you want. We will then send you confirmation and payment information

How much do I need to order?

Each main is designed to be enough for 1 adult. We offer sides as an optional extra which we designed specifically to compliment the curries. We recommend a side each.

Is the food very spicy?

Malaysian food is traditionally pretty spicy and whilst we try to be as authentic as possible with the flavours and ingredients we have had to tone down the spice on some of the dishes so we don’t blow your socks off...

Can you make mine a bit less spicy?

All the food is cooked together so we can’t really cater for special requests. If you have specific dietary requirements please contact us before ordering and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

Do you deliver to my area?

We currently only offer a delivery service to areas immediately around Ping At Home HQ. Please use the postcode lookup on the How It Works page to see if we cover your address.

Is the packaging recyclable?

We are committed to reducing our impact on the planet as much as we can; to this end we are trying to ensure that our packaging is as sustainable as possible. The packaging for the food is made from bagasse, a byproduct of the sugarcane industry. The trays are both home and industrially compostable so can be thrown on your compost at home or added to your compostable waste collection (check local authority rules). It is also suitable for recycling along with cardboard.

Can I freeze the food?

The mains and rice can be frozen for up to 6 months and should be done so as soon as possible.  The food must be defrosted thoroughly in the fridge before reheated, once thawed please follow the reheating instructions. Once defrosted the food must be consumed within 24 hours.  Most of the sides are not suitable for freezing.

Is it safe to reheat rice?

Uncooked rice can contain spores of Bacillus cereus, bacteria that can cause food poisoning. The spores can survive when rice is cooked. If rice is left standing at room temperature for a long time the spores can grow into bacteria. These bacteria will multiply and may produce toxins.

By chilling the rice as quickly as possible we ensure that this risk is kept very low. It is also important that you keep the rice refrigerated until you come to eat. When reheating the rice we ask that you ensure that it is piping hot throughout.

Where do you get your produce from?

Wherever possible we aim to buy as much produce from local suppliers and origins.  All of our meat is supplied by our friends at Larkhall Butchers to whom we have been a loyal customer for many years now. We know them well and trust that their meat is the best quality available and from local sustainable sources with the highest welfare standards.

Do you do Vegan options?

We do from time to time offer vegan dishes and label them as being so in the menus.

Why are there prawns and fish in the vegetable curry?

Southeast Asian food is quite often flavoured with shrimp paste or fish sauce and so these can be found in some of the Vegetable dishes.  We do label this clearly in the menus if this is the case.
